FROM THE EDITOR

I always get a little thrill when I spot the first signs of fall. The cooler evening temps, the vibrant tapestry of reds, yellows, and oranges on the trees, and my favorite part — the seasonal shift of clothing from spring/summer to fall/winter (which means moving around lots of apparel between different closets). Whether I’m out enjoying fall activities or cozying up with a good book and a blanket by the fireplace, there's a comforting feeling of settling in at this time of year that I really love.

In our Fall edition, we’re helping you settle in with inspiring stories about Nebraskans. Our cover story highlights the University of Nebraska Morrill Hall and features two incredible Nebraska artists — photographer Joel Sartore and muralist Elizabeth H. Dolan — and their amazing contributions to science through art, on page 2.

Roland Temme’s story, on page 6, defines the American dream. Roland founded TMCO 50 years ago, and we highlight how Roland and TMCO continue to impact the Lincoln community. On page 16, we delve into the story of Bob and Sherri Downey, who volunteer with the Lincoln Community Foundation and established The Bob and Sherri DowneyEndowed Scholarship Fund.

We’ve also got tips for throwing a fantastic tailgating event, embracing the beauty of fall, and enjoying Lincoln’s extensive miles of trails. So, settle in for a good read, then get out there and experience this fall season in a new way.

Here’s to getting your Fall on!
